Why live in Bowness?
Start with the lagoon. Bowness Park's shallow lagoon is busy with paddle boats in summer and skaters in winter, and around it there are a tea house, picnic sites and shelters, and fire pits.
Bowness stayed outside the city until 1964, and it still carries itself like a river town. The Bow runs along its edge and about 6 km of regional pathway passes through it. The City counts 5,374 public trees on its streets and in its parks, more than in any of the other 10 communities in these guides.
What is there to do outdoors in Bowness?
Past Bowness Park the river valley turns wild. Bowmont Park, a natural environment park on the north bank of the Bow, begins just beyond the community, with Baker Park and Dale Hodges Park close by. For organized sport, the Shouldice pool, arena and athletic park are a short way over the line in Montgomery, the pool about 240 metres from the community.
